Quite a few coffins, containing remains of deceased
parties having living relatives in Saint John city are being exhumed at the Old
Burying Ground and reinterred in Rural Cemetery (Fernhill Cemetery) Members of
the family of late Hugh JOHNSON were recently thus transplanted. Yesterday,
Alex. LOCKHART had the remains of Edward LOCKHART his father and Margaret Eliza
LOCKHART and James Henry LOCKHART, his sister and brother, respectively taken
up and transferred to the Rural Cemetery. By an odd co-incidence, Edward
Lockhart who was 48 years old at the time of his first burial on 27th Oct. 1833
is thus reinterred on the 48th anniversary of that event.
