In memory of Jane, wife of Christopher Billop, Esq who died the 21st January 1802 aged 48 years and 5 days.

 

Sacred to the memory of Honourable Christopher Billop, a member of His Majesty’s Council, whose uncompromising loyalty and distinguished exertions as Lieutenant Colonel in the Royal cause during the American Rebellion obliged him, at the termination of that contest, to abandon without compensation his hereditary property on Staten Island, and return with his family to this Colony, wherein he has since resided, universally respected. He died on the 28th of March 1827 in the 90th year of his age.

Here was interred the body of Mrs Allicia Brown, wife of Dr Daniel Brown MD, a native of the Isle of Mull in Scotland, who departed this life on 14th May 1809 aged 45, after enduring a years painful sickness which she bore with fortitude.

To the memory of Lieutenant William R Cleeve of the Royal Artillery who died in this City on Sunday the 11th August 1833 in the 23red year of his age. His death was occasioned by his having been violently thrown from his horse on the Friday preceding. This sudden summons to the tomb, of a young man universally respected and beloved excited in all classes of the Community a deep feeling of Sympathy and distress. His friends among the inhabitants of the City to whom he was more intimately known, erected this tribute to his worth.

In memory of Barton William Rowlett Wallop, Esquire, late Naval Officer of the Port of St John, born at Southampton, England, died in January AD 1824 in the 43rd year of his age.

 

Sacred to the memory of the Hon James Putnam, Esquire, who was appointed a member of His Majesty’s Council and a Justice of the Supreme Court in the organization of the Government of this Province at its original formation AD 1784. He had been for many years before the war which terminated in the independence of the United States of America, an eminent Barrister-at-Law, and was the last Attorney General. He died on the 23rd day of October AD 1789 aged 64 years.

In this vault are all deposited the remains of his wife Elizabeth Putnam who died on the 2nd day of May AD 1798 aged 66 years.

And of his daughter Elizabeth Knox who died in the 14th day of August AD 1787 aged 18 years. (daughter of Elizabeth Putnam)
