                                                                                                                                                                                                                    iii.               Charles Gunter Gallagher b 21 Sep 1925  in Centreville, Carleton County, NB, d 2007 in Saint John, NB, interment Baptist Church Cemetery, Centerville, NB, [He graduated from Centreville High School in 1941 and went on to study at the Truro Agricultural College for a year. Following the sudden death of his father, he returned to take over the family farm. He was married in 1949 and after contracting polio in 1952, decided to continue his education and studied at McDonald College in Montreal from 1955 to 1957. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics, and was also president of the student body. He was chosen as a Nuffield Scholar in 1958 and went to Great Britain for six months to study Britain's agricultural practices. He was District Agriculturalist from 1957 to 1967, after which he returned to farming. He was first elected in 1970 as a Member of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick representing Carleton County. He served on several committees to the Legislative Assembly in addition to being appointed as Minister of Education and Minister responsible for Historical Resources from 1976 to 1982. In 1980 he was appointed Minister of Continuing Education, and from 1982 to 1985 he served as Minister of Health. From 1985 to 1987 he was Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, and from 1991 to 1993 he was appointed to sit on Commission Examining Rural Land Use and Environmental Concerns. He was also a member of the Centreville United Baptist Church, the Masonic Lodge, and was a Rotarian. After his retirement in 1987 he continued to be supportive and active in community events and politics. Chuck particularly enjoyed his time at the Yankee Traveller Trailer Park in Largo, Florida and at his cottage at 1st Eel Lake with his dearest friends and family. Above all, it was his wife, children and grand children that stayed first and foremost in his list of priorities. He was a friend to all people and was respected and admired by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed. He left him surviving 12 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.] married 1949 Frances Olmstead who survived him and lives in Woodstock, NB, and they had children:
